General vs Personal Advice — What’s the Difference?

At Divergent Wealth, we believe in clear and honest communication. That includes explaining the kind of advice you're receiving.

General advice

This is information that helps you learn about money, super, investing, strategies and many other things. It doesn’t take your personal situation into account.

Think of it as general guidance, not a recommendation.

Example: “Adding to super can reduce tax.”

This is general advice - not tailored to your goals, age nor income.

Personal advice

This is when we’ve had a detailed chat, gathered your details, and created recommendations just for you. It’s tailored advice that considers your financial position, goals, and what really matters to you. Usually this is in a Statement of Advice.

Example: “We recommend you contribute $10,000 to super based on your income and retirement plan.”

If you’re not sure what kind of advice you’re receiving - just ask! We’re always happy to clarify.
